Podcaster Tucker Carlson recently warned that America was approaching the point of no return. He discussed that all-too-familiar stranger-in-a-strange-land sense of becoming an alien in one’s own country so many of us have. I’ve experienced the feeling for a long time. When I visit the old neighborhood where I grew up … when I went downtown in the “nation’s capital” while working up there … when I visit practically any major city in this country … when I go to the doctor … when I call customer service … when I notice who works at most construction sites … and when I walk through my own neighborhood and hear a cacophony of foreign languages and see exotic clothing worn by obvious foreigners.
It’s perfectly normal to want to live in a country that is yours, where you feel at home, where everyone speaks the language and shares customs and habits, including respect for law which our elites no longer display. Our elite once understood an ethnic core, that sharing a common history, culture, language and religion are absolutely necessary to maintain social stability, day-to-day harmony, and participation in public affairs by a population that understood they had a responsibility to a country that was their own. That would be the home for their children and grandchildren. And that they had an obligation to protect as an inheritance. That’s especially important if one desires to live in a self-governing republic and not an authoritarian empire.
That’s all gone. Self-styled “patriots” these days often celebrate empire, insist on authoritarian measures based on an elusive “national security” (their idol, Donald Trump, recently said he was willing to give up “rights and privileges as a citizen” for “national security” reasons), and wallow in “diversity,” insisting that the world loves us, so it wants to move here! Just get in line, the “right” way, without any obvious questions about, say, the sheer number of foreigners coming here. Aren’t “we” great! Even as the government expends billions, bankrupting the country in the process, as well as spills the blood of American soldiers, and of foreign people thousands of miles from our shores. All for the interests of another country, Israel. Recently, two U.S. representatives introduced legislation to extend veterans’ benefits to Americans serving in the Israeli Defense Force. You can’t make this up, as they say. That’s what “greatness” means to people with a pagan serf mentality — watching the empire impose its will on others in a show of power is “great.” Serfs kowtow to that power. The next generation of killing machines demonstrates “greatness,” while AI and robotics are even now creating a vast underclass, completing the job that deindustrialization started. But don’t worry, be happy! Universal Basic Income, an Internet connection, booze and narcotics (didn’t “we” declare war on the drug cartels? But, hey, we have more important targets, like Iran!), and a Matrix fantasy world will do the rest!
We — and I mean a “we” I could recognize as such — live in an occupied country. Occupied by the agents of a foreign power (Trump is the Zionist “Manchurian candidate”) by tech totalitarians, by people possessed by hedonism and greed, an Idiocracy that has overwhelmed us. It’s weird to watch podcasts hosted by foreign born or first-generation immigrants telling us what “American interests” are. One descendant of the Indian subcontinent, and he says some sensible things, admitted during Holy Week that he didn’t know what Palm Sunday commemorated. A woman of Armenian descent went on about her dislike of Turks. Palestinians and their supporters clash with Zionists on the streets of American cities and on college campuses. Turf wars between Latin American drug cartels take place on American soil. Cartels use American national parks near the border with Mexico to grow “product.” They traffic human beings, notably girls and women, for sale into sex slavery. As Carlson observed, dual citizenship is all too common. The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, once touted as Democratic presidential timber, worked on a kibbutz and served in the Israeli Defense Force. The Zionists are keen on exploiting America for the purposes of their country, and they would drain the treasury and get as many Americans killed as it takes to secure Israel.
The neoliberals and neoconservatives tell us, again, don’t worry, be happy! Go shopping!, as the moronic George W. Bush implored us after 9/11, which was blowback for just the sort of US foreign meddling, regime change, and intervention that have gone on practically non-stop in my lifetime. But “we” are the “good guys,” so shut up and support the troops! Go shopping, support our virtual economy built on fiat money and massive debt, which created prosperity for a shrinking middle class that no longer gives a damn about the working class. They didn’t mind living in a steadily expanding surveillance state or killing foreigners for reasons that were often a bit vague. And they never even thought that terrorism was blowback for American and Israeli violence and “regime change” directed against Middle Eastern countries. I’ve been as wary of Muslim immigration as anyone. But I do not hate Muslims, nor desire to obliterate their civilization, as the Blowhard-in-Chief promised to do to Iran. Only an Idiocracy ruled by sinister and hostile forces would destroy Islamic countries, while simultaneously importing millions of Muslims. Don’t worry, they’ll start watching “American” television and wearing Nikes. They will forget their home countries, dispense with their religions, and become as stupid, ill-informed, and callous as a lot of other Americans!
Folks, that ain’t happening. “Assimilation” was always touch-and-go, even with Europeans from the south and east of the continent. And that was before mass communications, easy air travel, and the Internet made preservation of foreign ties, and the explosion of foreign enclaves on American soil, possible in a heretofore unknown way. For that matter, new immigrants don’t necessarily love America. Example: Somali ingrate Ilhan Omar, the far-left Democratic representative of “Minnesota,” a veritable foreign agent for Somalia recently ridiculed for discussing “World War Eleven.” A lot of them see colonizing America as a payback for imperialism, as breaking into a giant candy store created with stolen wealth. That’s not entirely untrue, but never mind their often dysfunctional native cultures that created hellscapes in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
As for assimilation in its deepest sense, we have failed to assimilate our own children. How many genuine Americans also don’t know what Palm Sunday is? How many know anything about George Washington? All the old holidays pale in comparison to Cinco de Mayo these days, and young people know far more about celebrities than they do about the heroes we once celebrated, or their own ancestors, who may as well be aliens piloting the UFOs we hear so much about. Mass culture has flattened and dumbed down the cultural landscape. Capitalism has done its job of atomizing the population into a mass of niche “markets” and consumers.
Buy American! I remember those 80s bumper stickers that called on patriots to support rapidly disappearing manufacturing. What does that mean anymore? If I buy an “American” brand product, it may be manufactured in Mexico or even China. Stay close to home! Buy from American producers! But what if those producers are manning their assembly lines with immigrants? Often, “American made” products are assembled here, but by whom? And where are the parts manufactured? Again, many of us voted for that jackass Donald Trump because he promised to institute policies that would encourage the repatriation of American manufacturing, an absolute necessity for the economic wellbeing of the country, as well for genuine national security and American sovereignty. But he has no coherent economic policy, no plan beyond some sloppy, haphazardly implemented tariffs meant to bully other countries. And ending mass immigration is not on the agenda. Social Security and Medicare? Forget about it! The man himself has told us he has other things to worry about, like foreign wars fought for our Greatest Ally! His best pals are Zionist infiltrators Laura Loomer and Mark Levin, who have nothing but contempt for the American suckers they exploit. Jeffery Epstein? We don’t need to know about no stinking Jeffery Epstein, you losers! As far as Israelis destroying churches, killing Christians, and harassing Christian pilgrims, well, maybe they ain’t “Bible Christians” and it’s a small price to pay for fulfilling prophecy!
In a world drained of meaning and the landmarks that help ordinary people set their bearings, alienated individualists grasp for causes, no matter how warped or thin. We — that “we” I would recognize as such — walk among the ruins. We still love all the misguided ones, no matter how angry we are, and hope that they will open their eyes. Love among the ruins. But Carlson is off the mark. We are already well beyond the point of no return. Yours is a voice crying in the wilderness. Those who can, let them hear. Hear and try to hang on to something as the pillars of the imperial temple collapse.
Try not to be crushed in that collapse.
