Nihilism in the Trump Era (We all Die Anyway)

Readers might have seen the photo above. It’s been circulating around the internet, causing a bit of a stir. Scores of Indians celebrating a University of Texas touchdown in a game with Ohio State. Those who were disturbed by the photo are being attacked as “racist.” Some complained that UT graduation ceremonies look very much like that. Bo French, a GOP candidate for Texas Railroad Commissioner, posted the pic, and the response from Republican officials was all too predictable. Governor Greg Abbot, whose hypocrisy and duplicity yours truly has written about previously, implied that nobody should be upset about the state’s flagship university being overrun by foreigners. “A selective picture of Longhorn fans celebrating our biggest home victory — ever — actually shows a way that Texans unite,” Abbott said. “We all support our college football teams.” How nice. Republican State Representative Lacey Hull claimed French’s post and his concerned comments (“[It’s] worse than I thought”) “break my heart.” “I see college kids cheering on their football team. I see Texans,” she wrote. GOP Senator John Cornyn called on his colleagues to speak out against “the intolerance and racism.” My, my. “College kids”? Whose “college kids?” Hull’s comment smacks of the standard MSM take on inner-city violence being the work of misguided, raceless “youths.” “Texans”? In what sense?

This didn’t happen overnight. The demographic disaster has been ongoing for decades. When I attended UT graduate school in the 1980s, the foreign segment of the student body wasn’t so pronounced. Twenty years later, I was walking across the Austin campus with a friend and asked him whether he noticed something off kilter about the student body. As a matter of fact, he did. I noted that the university’s endowment was meant to finance the education of our children. That is, first of all, Texans. Americans at least. At the time, I couldn’t decide whether the university seemed most concerned with collecting full tuition from Chinese or the inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent. Since then, I’ve noticed a shift toward Indians. They are everywhere. Walking in their saris on our sidewalks, answering my toll-free help desk calls, and filling up our universities. That’s quite apart from Donald Trump not so long ago gushing (“It’s good for us!”) about welcoming 600,000 Chinese to be trained at our universities and research institutes. Trump, like so many GOPers, thinks America is simply an economic enterprise whose chief beneficiaries are billionaires. Don’t worry, be happy.

As it turns out, the GOP has become the chief vehicle for the tech oligarchs to further their aims, and as far as immigration is concerned, the techies aren’t particularly interested in importing leaf blowers and lawn mowers. Thus, the willingness to throw the base some red meat with a halfhearted battle against illegal immigration. They want cheaper alternatives to Americans for tech positions. Until that is, they can replace them, as well as us, with AI. See how this works? The two wings of the Epstein uni-Party — call them “Davos” and “Silicon Valley” — both wish to replace us. It’s just a matter of how and with whom. The left wing of the Epstein party gives its constituents identity politics while celebrating abortion and sexual deviance as virtues. The GOP — and Trump — don’t really care all that much about either, though they make some noise about both to rally the suckers. The fake patriots in the GOP use war most of all, waving the flag at us like a red cape in front of a bull. Both are promoting population replacement, spurring on the downward mobility of Americans, and destroying incentives for marriage and childbearing, thus decreasing the surplus population. Either way, we are toast, as they say.

Meanwhile, the billionaires have their bags packed in case things go south. The culture wars are partly intended to mask class warfare waged by both wings of the Epstein Party. But there is more to it than that. The nihilism of American elites is striking. Humanity itself is a hindrance to their respective versions of Nirvana, both of which deny the value of human beings as such. Dehumanization is the goal. Both wings of the elite believe humanity can be altered and improved by “transhumanism,” either with hormones and surgery or by implanting chips in our skulls and creating a cyborg ruling class that will upload their consciousness onto computers. Pesky traditional humans with their “carbon footprints” and archaic personal and national loyalties must be replaced. As do the remnants of our democratic republic.

OK, you might say, but we get to keep our guns with the Republicans. Sure, for now, anyway. But how useful will they be when we are enmeshed in a totalitarian system of total surveillance? When the techies control your life in “smart cities”? When the surveillance state is in a position to deny your gun purchase, block your bank account, or switch your car off?  The real conflict among elites is one between the managerial class that fills the bureaucracy and our other institutions — a nice fit for the Democrat/Davos wing of the Epstein Party — and the GOP/Silicon Valley oligarchs and their technocracy. The culture wars are a game meant to keep us distracted while we are replaced, our country transformed, and our institutions subverted. If the left wing of the Epstein Party seems worse in some respects, the right wing is worse in others — and as I stated above, the “conservative” wing is presently in charge of disinheriting us, locking us into a digital cage, and potentially setting off a direct war with Russia and China. Pick your poison.

Zionism dominates Trump’s foreign policy and is moving to lock us down domestically. The proposed Israeli merger with the U.S. military continues. Recently, Texas mandated educating school kids about the history and, no doubt, “right to exist,” of the modern, secular state of Israel. You know, the one with permissive abortion laws and subsidized health care that we, you and me, help pay for. America First? The left wing of the Epstein Party is little better. As noted in this space recently, the game appears to be to placate the Democratic base with criticism of Benjamin Netanyahu. Wait him out and then go back to the left Zionist long game of subsidizing Israel. Netanyahu and company went for broke with Trump in an all-out attempt to build Greater Israel in a coalition with Silicon Valley. So, here we are. If the left’s nihilism takes one form, the ostensible right’s takes another. And the MAGA base is guilty of that as well. Leftists might inject their children with hormones and celebrate aborting babies, but the quasi-patriotic right is all too willing to send their children — young men and, God help us, young women — to die and kill for a tiny state in the Middle East whose leaders have nothing but contempt for us. The Trump GOP supports Zionism at our expense, driving our economy and society into the dirt so the MAGA base can cheer on a war like the football teams they cheered for before the Indian subcontinent got all the student section tickets. Blindly supporting that is suicidal and inexcusable.

Tucker Carlson recently stated that on a number of occasions he had attempted to talk Trump out of going to war with Iran. And you know what our “MAGA” president once told him? “In the end we all die anyway, so it doesn’t matter.”
